Children rescued from burning building

Two children were rescued from a burning building on Monday evening at Unity Village, East Coast Demerara.

The fire started at around 7.p.m and completely destroyed the two- storey wooden building.

Capitol News understands that the children, ages 2 and 6 were home alone when the fire started and were rescued minutes later by one of the occupants of the home who returned from a nearby shop.

The origin of the fire is still unknown as investigations continue. Four persons are now homeless.
