Drivers license of repeat offender suspended
A repeat “Driving under the influence of alcohol” offender, was on Wednesday suspended from driving for the next twelve months and also fined $7,500 by Magistrate Christel Lambert at the Bartica Magistrates’ Court.
The taxi driver, 58 yr. old Solomon Stoby of Mongrippa Hill, Bartica was first charged on February 18, 2017. He pleaded guilty and was fined $7,500.00 and his license was endorsed.
On Friday, September 01, 2017, Stoby who owns and operates motor car HC 2999 was stopped at Fifth Avenue, Bartica during a routine stop and search operation.
The slurred speech and the strong smell of alcohol on the driver’s breath, caused an officer to administer a breathalyzer test which confirmed their suspicion; Stoby’s blood alcohol level was at .122 micrograms. The legal limit is .035 micrograms.
