JUST IN: Man who murdered teen girlfriend apprehended in Springlands
The 30-year-old man who allegedly murdered his 16-year-old girlfriend almost two weeks ago has been apprehended by police in Springlands, Corriverton, Berbice.
Ryan Singh allegedly murdered his teen lover, Parbattie Lakhpaul called ‘Rosann’ at her East Canje Berbice home on July 29, after the victim ended their abusive relationship.
The arrest has been confirmed by ‘B’ Division’s Deputy Commander Edmond Cooper and the suspect is now being transported back to the Central police station in New Amsterdam, after evading authorities for weeks.
Singh of 48 West Ruimveldt Estate Housing Scheme and 46 Stanleytown, New Amsterdam, Berbice is unemployed and was reportedly abusing the teen from the start of their relationship.
Capitol News understands that the former student of the Berbice Educational Insitute (BEI) dropped out of High School about two years ago and was living with the man who she met on the social media site, Facebook.
The couple was living in the lower flat of the victim’s mother’s house.
Days prior to the murder, the victim decided to end the abusive relationship. She asked her abuser to leave her mother’s home, which he did, but returned and hid in the house while she was away. As she made her way into the house she was ambushed and Singh slit her throat. (By Tracey Khan-Drakes)
