Over $147M in ‘weed’ destroyed by fire 

Over $1M in Cannabis Sativa (weed) was destroyed on Wednesday, November 23 by ranks of the Guyana Police Force Narcotics Branch at it’s Princess Street Incinerator.

A media release from the force stated that the destruction of the illegal substance was done by fire and lasted for more than an hour.

It was witnessed by representatives from the Georgetown Mayor and City Council, Ministry of Public Security, Guyana Fire Service, Guyana National Bureau of Standards as well as some members of the media. 

“The destroyed narcotics were mainly exhibits from court cases concluded over a two year period and also those found during police raids, where no arrests were made,” the release concluded.
