Man shot during botched robbery at Stabroek Market
A 28-year-old man was shot this morning (April, 14) at the Stabroek
Market by a Constabulary rank during an attempted robbery inside an electronic store.
The man who identified himself as Demon Booker, of South Ruimveldt Squatting Area, Georgetown is currently under police guard, at the Georgetown Hospital nursing a single gunshot wound to his left leg.
Chief Constable Andrew Foo said around 2:30 a.m Constabulary ranks received information relating to a disturbance within the market, upon checking it was discovered that security padlocks on the south-western end of the market had been breached along with a stall.
The Constabulary Chief said ranks called out to the suspect and demanded that he relieve himself of any weapons and exist the stall. The man instead emerged with the knife and advanced towards the ranks resulting in him being shot.
A haversack containing a number of stolen items was removed from the scene.
