Recording released of AG allegedly threatening Kaieteur News
Accompanied by his lawyer, outspoken publisher of the Kaieteur News Glenn Lall today walked into the Police Headquarters at Eve Leary to make an official complaint. Lall said he has recordings of a government minister Anil Nandlall making threats to harm himself and staff.
It was last Saturday that the damning recording was made during a conservation between the minister and a Kaieteur News staffer Leonard Gildarie.
Lall through his papers has been at the forefront exposing corruption within the public system.
Today an emotional Lall told members of the media that he is fearful for his life. He said he was warned by several individuals to be extremely careful prior to the recordings.
Attorney Khemraj Ramjattan who is representing Lall described the contents in the tape as state terrorism and he called for a criminal investigation to be conducted.
The recording was handed over to deputy Commissioner of Police Balaram Persaud
Lall got himself into some hot water after he exposed attempts to close his newspapers down by the GRA boss and other government functionaries. Those sentiments were made in an email.
This did not stop Lall in his tracks from further exposing the corruption in the system. He only recently revealed that the Attorney General’s uncle Kamal Mangal acquired duty free concessions on a high-end Mercedes Benz SUV.
This ruffled the feathers of the minister and he made it known to the reporter.
