No full compensation for flooded EBD communities

aa2Residents of Peter’s Hall last week as they questioned who will compensate them for their losses. However at a meeting on Monday, Local Government Minister Norman Whittaker told residents that Government will not fully compensate them for the damage suffered after a faulty koker door collapsed under pressure.

The residents who met with Local Government Minister Norman Whittaker Monday left the meeting feeling very frustrated.

Today, A Partnership for National Unity Member of Parliament Ronald Bulkan said he is disappointed that the residents will not be fully compensated for their losses.

Bulkan who was at a picket organized by the Partnership calling for Local Government Elections said they will continue to stand in solidarity with the residents.

In the wee hours of the morning scores of residents awoke to their homes flooded after water gushed in from the Demerara River after a faulty koker door broke.

Residents said they had filed numerous complaints to the NDC about the faulty koker door to no avail.
