Journalists receiving training

aa8The week-long media training programme was organised by the University of Guyana Centre for Communication Studies (UGCCS) in collaboration with the Guyana Parliament Office and the British High Commission.

The focus of the training is on democracy and responsibility and how media can engage citizens further.

Carolyn Walcott of the University of Guyana outlined the important role journalists play in society.

Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly Basil Williams pointed to why the media is important in democratic societies.

The Media Training is being conducted by Professors from the University of Ohio. Participants include media workers from both the state and private media in Guyana.
