Three arrested Sophia murder
A division commander Clifton Hicken told this newscast that three suspects are in custody in connection with the murder of Marvin Cumbermack. He said the men will be placed on an identification parade and their hands will be swabbed for gun power residue.
The police are still to locate the man’s motorcycle which was taken by the bandit. It was just after 8 on Monday while making his way back to work after dropping off his fiancée in C field that the man was shot and killed outside of the Mercy Wing vocational school.
Residents are cooperating with the police as they try to rid the community of criminal elements who are robbing people frequently around the community.
In Cumbermack’s case, residents believe that he was fighting with his attacker who shot him in the stomach. They told this newscast they heard about four gunshots and when it was ended they saw the man’s motionless body on the road in a pool of blood.
The dead man’s relatives are eager for all the support residents can give to the police so that the perpetrators can be brought to justice.
And the police are still investigating that fatal accident involving UG staff Latchman Sukdeo. A police source told this newscast that upon completion of the investigation the file would be sent to the DPP for advice.
Sukdeo a long service University of Guyana staff was on his way to work when his motorcycle collided with a forklift, which was loading metal at the corner of Lamaha and Delph streets.
Residents said Fred, as he is popularly known, suffered a gash to his neck and he was bleeding heavily when he was rushed to the Balwant Singh Hospital where he succumbed.
This newscast understands that the driver of the forklift was in custody assisting the police with their investigations. Fred was cremated last Monday.
