B Division in cooperation with suriname law enforcement
Commander of B Division Brian Joseph said ranks in his Division are working closely with their counterparts in neighbouring Suriname to bring to justice those who may have committed criminal offences, skipped the country and are hiding in that country.
He said that decision has yielded some results following the recent arrest of murder accused Samuel Fable by Surinamese authorities. He was extradited to Guyana.
Fable was on the run since 2007 after escaping out of the police van on his way to court. He was charged with the murder of Alness businessman Gangaram Busgith.
Joseph said while police in the Berbice region have netted some success in their crime fight, one of the high points for B division is the arrest of wanted fugitive, prison escapee Vinood Gopaul. Gopaul is facing two murder charges including killing his father.
Commander Joseph said the Police would continue to rely on the support of the community and their intelligence gathering to further reduce criminal activities.
