Charity begins at home

Screen Shot 2014-07-18 at 11.43.36 PMJoseph Harmon – A Partnership for National Unity Member of Parliament said they are paying keen attention to Government’s distribution of the Casino Licenses.

Harmon was responding to a question on Government’s decision to grant casino licenses to foreign hotel investors over locals.
The Shadow Public Works Minister said he is unaware as to whether in the Memorandum of Understanding that Government grants them a license on the basis that they will invest in a 150 room hotel.
Harmon said the only difference between Sun and Sands Company and the Marriott is that no taxpayers money will be invested, which is pleasing to him.
Under the Bharrat Jagdeo Presidency the gambling legislation was enacted. According to that legislation provision was made for licenses to be granted to the Princess Hotel, the Marriott and one other. However to date, Government has not stated which hotel will be granted the third license. There were reports that a popular local hotel owner has applied for that third license.
