Two killed in accident

Screen Shot 2014-07-17 at 10.54.26 PMThe continuous carnage on our roadways is worrying to the Guyana Police Force Traffic department, which is reporting a 9% increase in road fatalities and a 3% increase in accidents.

It was only last evening that two more persons lost their lives in a smash up on the Soesdyke Linden Highway.

Dead are mini-bus driver Roger Hudson and Cathy Marks both are from  Linden. Several passengers were also seriously injured and are now receiving medical attention at the Linden Hospital.

Traffic Chief, Hugh Denhert said the traffic department would increase its efforts in traffic education and enforcement to curb the lawlessness on the roads.

And those drivers who are in the habit of driving under the influence the traffic department will be  coming after you as well.

The traffic chief then made an appeal to all class of road users to use the road with care and be considerate to the other drivers.

Figures  compiled by the police are showing that Fatal Accidents have increased by by 9% from 56 last year to 63 to the corresponding period this year.
