PPP backs benefits for Jagdeo
General Secretary of the People’s Progressive Party as he was responding to a question on the percentage of the pension package. It should be noted that while there were objections to the pension package during the ninth parliament by the opposition, the package was still approved by the ruling PPP majority in the National Assembly.
The General Secretary was also asked to comment on whether the approval of the exorbitant pay package was against the principals on which the People’s Progressive Party were founded on.
Former President Bharrat Jagdeo since demitting office in 2011 racked up approximately $45 million which represents transportation, security and electricity bills.
The Government is yet to release the figures for the former president’s medical expense, housing allowance and other personal expenses.
