No severance yet for Hotel Tower staff
The doors of the hotel remain closed and the union is keeping its fingers crossed that the management can settle the outstanding payment and benefits due to the workers.
Sherlock Clerk president of the Clerical and Commercial workers union told this newscast the hotel management is promising to pay off the workers in full but at the same time he is complaining about the financial difficulties facing Tower at this point.
A few days ago the workers, union, the managing director and his attorney held a meeting to address the issue but that meeting ended abruptly with the workers demanding their monies. The staff was sent home for six weeks following the disconnection of the electricity supply to the hotel.
The union is still holding out that the workers must be paid.
Tower Hotel is currently up for sale.
