Teenage boys charged in murder of young taxi driver
Asad Alli and Abool Shazim Razak were charged with the murder of 17-year-old taxi driver Danraj Latchman. The young man’s body was found last Friday after the suspects reportedly led police investigators to Parika backdam, some five miles from where his Carina 212 car was found a day earlier during an extensive search by relatives and the police.
Latchman left his Lusignan home on Wednesday afternoon to take the two men to to Parika.
Family members packed the court room to get a closer look at the two young men who relatives say have caused them immense pain following their senseless act.
A tearful Lynette Daby the boy’s mother said she would not rest until justice is served in the matter.
The woman said she was surprised that the police did not bring charges against the father of one of the boys, whom it is claimed had her son’s car keys and two cell phones, and hid them when he realized they were involved in the teen’s disappearance.
The men were remanded to prison until June 24th and the case was transferred to the Leonora Magistrate’s court.
