Fire leaves 15 persons homeless

Screen Shot 2014-06-16 at 6.44.09 PMA late afternoon fire has left 15 persons from three families homeless and an estimated 25-million dollars in damages with household items , mechanical and electrical tools either damaged or destroyed.

The fire occurred at the Rampertab’s 27 Delph Street Campbellville home and quickly gutted the two-storied wooden building.

The building also housed a body workshop at the bottom flat. At the time of the fire Adesh Rampertab was doing some repair work when the alarm of fire was raised.

He said the fire started at the top flat of the building and quickly spread.

The origin of the fire is still to be determined. Rampertab said the he was grateful for the support of residents who help him saved some of the vehicles in the yard which were there for repairs.

When Capitol News arrived on the scene, fireman were there working feverishly to put out the blaze. An investigation is currently ongoing.
