Pensioners’ money stolen

Screen Shot 2014-06-11 at 6.42.10 PMWhen we arrived on the scene the doors of the Campbellville post office were closed with the police inside the building taking statements from staff members.

Residents told this newscast that just after 8:00 this morning they heard the staff screaming for thieves.

Public relations officer of the post office corporation Telesha Whyte said a gunman posing to be a customer stuck up the post master and another staff at gunpoint and took away 1.3million in cash.

This was not the first time the Campbellville post office has been robbed. Whyte said from previous experiences the post office corporation would normally use police to escort to transport the cash.

Whyte said the post office corporation has been working to improve its security despite some challenges.

Residents said the men made good their escape on a CG motorcycle.
