Policeman charged in cocaine bust

Screen Shot 2014-06-04 at 6.42.03 PMA Police Lance Corporal Javon David was today remanded to prison following that cocaine found on a Caribbean Airlines Flight on May 23rd.

When the matter was called before Chief Magistrate Priya Beharry the court was told that the cocaine, amounting to over 3 kilogrammes, was hidden away in vent whole of the aircraft.

The prosecutor from the Customs Anti-Narcotics Unit told the court that David took the drugs into the male washroom, placed it in a garbage bag then allegedly handed it over to Eon Persaud and Alex Seymore, both of whom were outgoing passengers on the Caribbean Airlines flight. The drug was busted and the two men were charged and placed before the courts.

CANU prosecutor Oswald Messiah told the court that David procured the services of the men to carry out the illegal substance.

David was remanded to prison until June 6th when he will make his next court appearance at the Providence magistrate court.

Within recent months a number of persons were busted here and overseas after trying to shipped cocaine out of this country.
