Gov’t reverses decision on US-funded Democracy Project
The government has now backed down on an earlier decision not to approve the US-funded Leadership and Democracy Project. The matter had resulted in a heated public row between the government and the US Embassy after U.S Ambassador Brent Hardt indicated he would go ahead with the project even without the government’s approval. Today Head of the Presidential Secretariat Dr Roger Luncheon said the government had changed its mind after the two parties agreed to go back to negotiating table.
With the government’s new position, the two parties can now decide on the design of a project that they would both be comfortable with.
