Diplomats continue to press for Local Gov’t Polls
Canadian High Commissioner Dr Nicole Giles has joined with her colleagues in the Diplomatic corps in calling for the holding of Local Government elections in Guyana. She was at the time giving remarks at the launch of an updated website at Guyana’s Parliament which the Canadian government helped to fund along with the UNDP.
Just over a week ago EU ambassador to Guyana Robert Kopecky called for the holding of Local Government Elections in Guyana. High Commissioner Giles said in the current situation policy makers need to embrace things that will increase citizen interaction and advocacy.
The High commissioner said that the power of improved information technology should not be underestimated since it can influence a number of factors.
