Former West Indies Vice Captain and player Roger Harper believes that Denesh Ramdin will have quite a challenge to lead the West Indies side. But Harper also thinks that Ramdin’s experience in leading Triinidad in several regional tournaments should prepare him for the assignment of WI Captain. Harper was speaking to us this afternoon.

Harper said Darren Sammy came into the Captaincy at a difficult time and must have been looking at his own test place when he made the decision to retire from Test Cricket.

Rugby

Senior rugby player and former Captain of Guyana Theodore Henry believes that Guyana can pull off a victory when they face Barbados on Saturday. It’s the International Rugby Board fifteens match that will be played in Barbados. Some team members left today while others will be leaving tomorrow.

Team selector Mike Mc Cormack is also confident that Guyana can reverse the result this year with a victory. He said they have to work on their tackling.

Ansa Mc Al

Drinking the Lucozade energy drink and redeeming the crown will see one lucky person winning a motor car and several others helping themselves to very lucrative prizes. This was revealed this morning by Darshanie Yusuf who is Ansa Mc al Public Rerlations Officer

Sean Adel is the Lucozade brand representative and he outlined some aspects of the competition for this year.

Round of 16 Guinness in Da Street East Coast action will run for three days at the Haslington Market Square starting this Saturday – Round of 16. Games will continue on Wednesday 2014-05-21- Quarterfinal and Semi Final and 2014-05-24-Finals and Third place playoff.

Boxing

Johnny Gonzales the WBC champion whom Clive Atwell will be fighting in Mexico on the 24th of this month says he has been looking at Atwell and believes he can take care of business in ten days’ time. Gonzales told boxing scene that he has prepared 100% because Atwell is a dangerous opponent. Gonzales says that Atwell who has been undefeated in his 12 professional fights is young and has a respectable punch. Atwell is currently fine tuning his training in the US and will be travelling to Mexico sometime Next week for his ring date with Gonzalez.

Table Tennis

This Friday it’s the National Sports Commission (NSC) Independence table tennis competition at the National Gymnasium., the tournament will have two segments the juniors and seniors

Closing date for entries is on Thursday15th May 2014 and over 200 entries expected from Georgetown, West Demerara, Berbice, Bartica, East Coast and Linden.
