Top Story: Mic fight and bomb scare at City Hall
It all started when the voted out acting town clerk Carol Sooba took the microphone to officially call the meeting to order,; this resulted in a fight for the microphone between Sooba and the deputy town clerk Patricia Chase Greene.
Mayor Hamilton Greene with Royston King performing duties at town clerk officially called the meeting to order; it was during that meeting a call came in that a bomb was in the building. Workers started to leave the building but mayor Green and councilors were not about to take those threats seriously. It was not until the arrival of the Guyana Fire Service and the bomb squad that Green and team decided to leave. Deputy mayor Patricia Chase- Greene then addressed the media on the threats.
All this time Sooba was still giving instructions to staff members.
Then there was the arrival of person of known character at city hall looking on at the proceedings.
Police and fire service officers were there in the numbers encouraging persons to leave the building. Both persons claiming to be acting two clerks were in the middle of proceedings advising the police on proceedings.
After a thorough check of the building, no bomb was found and the lawmen left after ensuring that city hall was clear.
