Role of Regional Private Sector in focus
CARICOM’s Secretary-General Irwin LaRocque urged the Trade Ministers to find creative solutions to engage the Private Sector which he thinks is critical for the region’s trade development.
LaRocque said he has long recognized the need for the involvement of the private sector in order to achieve CARICOM’s economic goals.
The CARICOM Secretary-General says the interest of the Private Sector must be taken into account since it is up to those groups to advance change. He also hinted at the fact that the CARICOM region is yet to fully take advantage of its marketing potential. (INSERT)
COTED will also focus its attention on a number of critical areas including an assessment of the state of play of the negotiations with Canada for a Trade and Development agreement.
The progress of the Transportation Commission and the Commission on the Economy also be examined during the day and a half meeting. A session is also planned with the business community.
