Citizens protest over shooting of 15-year-old Alex Griffith

Screen shot 2014-05-08 at 10.34.47 PMToday concerned citizens and social activists converged at the police headquarters in protest over the Police shooting of 15-year-old Alex Griffith.

They believe the Police Force needs to take swift action and bring the suspect to justice. Added to that the group is calling for a halt to what appears to be a trend of police excesses.

The boy and his mother tried to seek an audience with the commissioner of police, but their attempts were denied. They were told by the security at the gate that they must write to the commissioner if they want a meeting.

The police had promised swift action but one week later the policeman at the center of the shooting is still to face the court.

On Wednesday, during an ID parade, the 15-year-old boy identified the policeman who shot him in the mouth.

Relatives of the policeman have been calling Griffith’s mother, offering a million dollars in compensation but the woman said she wants to ensure that her son get proper medical attention and justice is nserved in the matter.
