Man wanted for murder of fisherman Chetram Bharat

Screen shot 2014-05-08 at 3.32.07 AMThe police are seeking  the assistance of the  public to locate this man on your screen who the police say in wanted in connection with the murder of East Coast Fisherman Chetram Bharat.

According to the police, 38-year-old Errol Khan known as Venood Maraj is wanted for questioning in relation to the murder of Chetram Bharat which occurred on May 02, 2014, at Haslington, East Coast Demerara.
Khan is described as thinly-built and  brown in complexion. His last known address was listed as Lot 72 Blossom Scheme, East Coast Demerara.

Relatives began pointing fingers at the man since the day of the murder. It is believed that the man was having an affair with Bharat’s wife Lomattie, while Bharrat was away in neighbouring Suriname plying his trade. The woman ended the relationship according to a relative and the man threatened to kill the woman and her family.

According to reports two cutlass-wielding men barged into the couple’s Haslington East Coast Demerara  home and began chopping the woman and her husband while they were demanding cash and jewellery. The woman told members of the media that $500,000 dollars in cash was taken during the ordeal.

Bharat was hacked to death while his wife sustained several chop wounds about her body. The woman is currently in hospital and is expressing fear for her life since she believes that the suspect will come back to finish the job.
