15 year old shot in mouth wants justice
Alex Griffith the 15 year old boy that was shot by a policeman last Thursday night. Today the boy was discharged from the GPHC after his condition improved significantly. He told reporters that he is still feeling a little discomfort and pain in his neck.
Still shaken over the entire incident Griffith said he was happy to be alive. He recalled receiving a beating from the lawmen in the presence of his mother, despite pleading his innocence of the crime.
The shooting stemmed from the robbery of a relative of the policeman in East La penitence. According to Griffith a party of policemen took him from his East La Penitence home.
The force had promised swift action in the police shooting of the 15-year-old boy, but today the boy’s mother said she is tempted to believe that some amount of cover up is taking place.
The woman said she was told that the policeman at the center of the shooting of her son is no longer in custody and she is being bombarded with calls about a settlement.
The policeman was placed under close arrest following the incident as the investigations continue. A police source told this newscast that the policeman who pulled the trigger was stationed in C division, that is east coast of Demerara.
A resident told members of the media at the time of the robbery the boy was in her home watching television.
She said when they heard the commotion and looked out they saw a young lady crying for help.
