Guyanese families hit by tragedy in New York.

The daughter of Guyanese Richard Ramnarine and Abiol McPhoy-Ramnarine was killed in a car accident in Brooklyn on Sunday May 4th 2014. The nine-year old child who died Rebecca Ramnarine, was riding in a car driven by a family friend Esther Cummings when the car was hit by someone trying to flee a minor accident.  

Cummings and her child Faith were injured and are in Intensive Care. Their condition is listed as stable.  Esther Cummings is the daughter in law of Bishop John Cummings of Restoration Temple an established Pentecostal Church in Brooklyn with a large Guyanese congregation.

Three other people who were in two cars that were struck by the fleeing minivan were also taken to the hospital and are now in stable condition.

The driver of the minivan is in custody and is likely to face charges according to authorities
