boxingClive Atwell’s  is disappointed with the negative publicity surrounding his pay for his upcoming Title fight and want all those commenting to desist since it is also hampering sponsorship. The boxer himself made an appeal when he spoke to the media this morning

US based Promoter Seon Bristol believes that Atwell stands a good chance in this title fight

Former World rated boxer Lennox Blackmore says he believes Atwell is mentally ready but he needs a bit more preparation.

Atwell leaves for the US on Friday to continue his prepartions. His camp also received some assistance from Lance Bacchus, proprietor of Millienium Manor Hotel towards his preparation.

GdF Coach Denzil Thompson said he is satisfied with the way his players played in the finals of the Namilco One Love reloaded finals. The finals took place last Sunday at the GFC ground Bourda. Thompson gave credit to Alpha for the 1 nil extra time victory and said he prides himself in developing players.

The GDF coach says he believes in the vision of the GFF president.

Regal are the Open Champions and Floodlights take the Masters title as the Georgetown Floodlights softball cricket association’s tournament ended Dcc ground in Queenstown. Regal beat Wolf’s Warriors by47 runs and Floodlights pulled out a 3 wkt win over Success to take the Masters title. For the female side of things Trophy stall Angels were victorious, putting away Mike’s Wellwoman by 8 wkts. Over half a million dollars in prize money was shared out.

And amidst confusion and some contention Alfred Mentore retained the Presidency of the Demerara Cricket club. Mentore and former WI player and Coach Roger Harper were the two persons vying for the leadership of the club.

The Guyana Cricket Board (GCB) Inter-County U-19 Three-Day Competition is schedule to get underway with the first round beginning on Labour Day.

 President Xi will go up against Berbice at the Enmore Community Centre ground, while Essequibo will take on Demerara at the Demerara Cricket Club ground.  May 1 – 3, 2014, in round one

Then in round two, runs from May 5 – 7, 2014, Demerara and Berbice will clash at the Georgetown Cricket Club ground, while Essequibo and President XI will meet at the Demerara Cricket Club ground.

And from May 9 – 11, 2014, the third and final round will see President Xi against Demerara, and Berbice against Essequibo.
