The problem of Inter-Personal Violence must be tackled says APNU

GgrangerA Partnership for National Unity (APNU) is demanding that the Legal Affairs Ministry do more to ensure that the court systems are helpful to victims of violence.

Opposition Leader David Granger says interpersonal violence is an issue that the government should address since more persons are losing their lives.

Granger says the Ministries of Education, Health, Home Affairs, Human Services and Legal Affairs as well as the Police force should work together to solve the issue of interpersonal violence which is plaguing the country.

The Opposition Leader says his party has lost confidence in the government to deal with the problem from a legislative stand point.

It was last year that the APNU pushed for the establishment of a special Interpersonal Violence Unit in the National Assembly.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention defines interpersonal violence as the intentional use of physical force or power against another person or against a group or community that results in or has a high likelihood of resulting in injury, death, psychological harm.
