With all the challenges of the past year swimming is desperately trying to recapture the glory of past days. A squad was recently pulled together to train under head coach Sean Baksh who said that they have been focussing on a number of areas.
Baksh was at the interclub swimming competition at the National Aquatic Centre over the weekend and said that there are a number of meets they are targeting.
There have been some improvement in the times attained by the local swimmers recently the Head coach disclosed
Newly Elected President of the association Ivan Persaud said he was heartened at the level of participation
And Limacol will once again be the brand under which the CPL will be named this year. The New GPC , has renewed its sponsorship of the Caribbean showpiece T20 tournament which the organisers are expecting to be bigger than its inaugural edition last year.
Limacol was the sponsor in the 2013 edition that saw huge crowds attend the games, dubbed the Biggest Party in Sport,. The hype around the tournament was helped by world class 20-/20 stars and the presence of Holly wood stars Mark Wahlberg and Gerarad butler who were team shareholders. Add to that many former legends of the game as coaches and mentors and the crowds were almost guaranteed.

The Limacol Caribbean Premier League returns in July and August 2014 when Jamaica Tallawahs will defend their title against the St. Lucia Zouks, Trinidad & Tobago Red Steel, Antigua Hawksbills, Guyana Amazon Warriors and Barbados Tridents.
And despite missing out making it into the top 2 teams Guyana did next best and won the bronze medal in the just concluded Pan American Indoor Hockey Cup in Uruguyay . Guyana bt Argenntina for the second time in the competition 2-1 on on penalties after the teams were deadlocked 2 all at the end of regulation
Aderemi Simon and Jamarj Assanah both scored in regulation before Assanah came back to score the penalty for Guyana which ended 2-1. The Guyana Captain Devin Munroe and some of his other players said they are really a lot to them.
Munroe promised that the the Guyana team will be one that the top teams will be seeing more of in the future.
He also took the opportunity to thank all those who supported them throught the tournament
Final Standings Canada finshed first followed by the US then Guyana Argentina and hosts Uruguay in the cellar.
