Govt will adopt good faith approach to budget says Dr. Ashni Singh
The Finance Minister Dr Ashni Singh says the government is willing to approach the budget estimates in good faith and answer any question in order to get the budget passed, but not before he picked up on the Opposition Leader on the chants of “same old”.
From that passionate denunciation of the Opposition, the Finance Minister Dr Ashni Singh went to a passionate plea as he looked for grounds upon which to convince the opposition to vote in favour of the budget.
The Opposition parties in Parliament have already signaled their intention to cut spending where no satisfactory explanation is given, and the government intends to ensure it provides the answers in order to get the budget passed.
The 2014 budget is pegged at $220 billion, but the final figure would be determined next Thursday once all of the estimates are considered line by line.
