Bartica residents express their frustration on community issues

bar resBartica residents were not shy to vent their grievances on a number of issues that are affecting the community. The residents spoke of crime and security, transportation, and trafficking in persons as issues that must be addressed.

The meeting was part of the APNU local government campaign outreach in the community. Leader of the APNU David Granger spoke of the neglect of the Bartica and Cuyuni Mazaruni by the ruling party.

The APNU seeks local government elections as a way of putting power into the hands of residents to run their own communities.

So far a date is still to be decided for the holding of local government elections with the Guyana elections commission indicating that they are awaiting the announcement of a date for the elections.
