After a bit of a struggle to post a171/7 off their 20 overs Krishmar Santokie then reduced hosts Bangladesh to 16/ 3 within 3 overs , a spell they never recovered from to crash to 98 all out with 5 balls still left in their 20 overs Samuel badree took 4/15 and Andre Russl 2/10

Earlier Dwayne smith opening the batting with Chris Gayle blasted 72 off 49 balls to set up the total. Gayle playing in his shell made a run a ball 48. The next best score was the 19 extras the Bangladesh side conceeded. Marlon Samuels made 18 and captain Darren Sammy was not out on 14. Four batsmen made duck as the home side tried to restrict what was looking to be a mammoth total. The West Indies must step up their game if they are to beat Australia on Friday.

The West Indies women will face their Bangladeshi hosts in their second match tomorrow.

Scotia Bank/Pepsi School tournament — BEI defeated BHS 2-nil

Berbice Education Institute (BEI) recorded their first victory in the Scotia Bank/Pepsi Football Academy on Saturday against Berbice High School when the Berbice leg of the tournament got under way at the All Saint Ground, New Amsterdam.

Hockey

In just over a week the National Men’s hockey squad will leave for Uruguay for the  2014 Indoor Pan American Cup.After four months of training the Men’s National Hockey. Guyana will be play regional giants Canada, Argentina, USA and Uruguay and will use the outing to attempt to qualify for the 2015 Indoor World Cup in the week long tournament.

The team is scheduled to depart for Lethem on the 4th of April, then
travel by road to Boa Vista before making connecting flights to Manaus and
Sao Paulo, arriving in Uruguay on the 5th of April.
