Kitty residents continue to complain
A source told this newscast that the aim of the exercise was to rid criminal elements who are in the habit of robbing citizens around those busy mini-bus parks.
Some citizens welcomed the exercise saying it was warranted given the growing spate of robberies around the area. They also applauded the police for conducting themselves in a professional manner during most of the exercise. The police arrested a number of persons during the raid.
And while the police were given praise in the Stabroek market exercise residents of Station Street Kitty are upset with the police for allowing persons to block the street during their Phagwah celebrations. While some were celebrating in an orderly manner in keeping with the festivity some were bent on making life difficult for the residents of the area. The police were called in several times but did little to improve the situation. Eventually the lawmen put a halt to the proceeding after of number of fights and bottle throwing incident. For sometime now station street residents have been complaining about the actions of some patrons hanging out at the Bars in the street but very little was done to bring relief to the residents.
