NEW CEO of GECOM plans to meet expectations of the nation

gecomAfter taking the oath of office as chief election officer of GECOM Keith Lowenfield said his immediate task is to live up to the expectations of his colleagues and the entire nation.

His appointment comes months after GECOM agreed not to renew the contract of former CEO Gocool Boodoo. It was commissioner Vincent Alexander Opposition who lashed out at the former Chief Elections Officer for almost giving the PPP the majority in Parliament following the last elections although the combined Opposition parties, APNU and Alliance for Change had pulled in more votes.

Today opposition leader David Granger said the appointment was a step in the right direction.

Lowenfield  believes that the strength of the GECOM secretariat lies in the unity of its employees and the more united they are, the stronger the organization will become.

Now Lowenfield is taking over the chair at the time when talks are ongoing about the holding of local government elections.
