GTUC rejects conditions for CLC funding
Starved of the government subvention for eight years the GTUC was happy that parliament voted for the return of the funds but was disappointed with the terms and conditions for the restoration. The union feels that parliament is tampering with the structure of the board of the college by asking for the inclusion of FITUG members on the board.
General secretary of the umbrella trade union movement Lincoln Lewis said his union will not honour the decision and is calling on parliament to correct it.
Principal of the Critclow Labour Collage Ivor English said the subvention is of critical importance particularly as it relates to the sustainability of the collage with respect to capital works and infrastructure.
While the opposition is saying that they wanted to ensure that the board represents all workers, Lewis said the pattern that the college has taken over the years is based on universal principles, laws of the organization and the law of the land.
The union over the years has been at odds with the government over their outspokenness on several issues of national importance
