Former President Jagdeo on the mend in Miami
The PPP’s General Secretary Clement Rohee says that former President Bharrat Jagdeo was on the mend after he (Jagdeo) reportedly fell ill in Guyana over the weekend. Jagdeo was flown out of the country in a medevac jet to Miami where he was attended to. Jagdeo has used the prestigious Cleveland Clinic of Florida for medical treatment in the past but it unclear whether he used that particular medical institution this time around.
The former President for whom the taxpayers pay all of his medical expenses wherever he decides to have medical treatment in the world was flown out on Saturday last after he complained of feeling unwell. There are reports that he may be suffering from a particular strain of dengue after a visit to India recently.
Capitol News understands that Jagdeo is resting at home in Hidden Hills Road in Palm Beach county Florida. Under the Former President’s Benefits Act, Jagdeo is entitled to the all-expenses paid medical treatment plan that was instituted during his time in office. As indicated the payments made to any medical institution have to be covered by the Government of Guyana from the Treasury. In the case of the Cleveland Clinic a refund however is listed as due Bharrat Jagdeo in his name in care of the Guyanese consulate in Miami.
