Linden residents complain about lack of development

protest 2Some Lindeners wants the government to address the many struggles facing the community rather then leaving them in the dark.

When residents protested on Saturday they were also concerned about medical care provided at the Mckenzie Hospital.

And some residents feel that the Bauxite community is starved of state resources.

The general cry in the community is that they are being neglected and the residents told reporters that they are beginning to feel fed up with the situation.

Member of Parliament Vanessa Kissoon said the issues that were agreed to with the government were raised in parliament but to date the ruling party has paid little attention to the plight of the people.

17 months ago following the deadly Linden protest the region and the government agreed to the creation of a technical team that has specific terms of reference to review the issue of the electricity tariff increase; the establishment of an economic development committee, the return of the Region 10 television station, and a regional land selection committee.
