In light of the disturbing ICC governance proposals on the table for voting at its meeting in just a few day’ s time in Dubai UAE, The Board of directors of the WICB have come up with a position and according to a WICB spokesperson that position was taken in the best interest of WI cricket. The directors have been communicating by teleconference this week on Mon and Wed to arrive at a position after the proposals were leaked to the media last week. WICB president Dave Cameron will be making the Board’s position known at the meeting which takes place on Jan 28/9
And Minister of Sport Dr Frank Anthony today hosted rising Hockey star Alyssa Xavier . Xavier is the National goalkeeper and she has been selected as one of the Pan American Hockey Federation’s Elite players selected for their team for 2013. The star player paid a courtesy call on the Minister today where she was presented with her certificate of selection.
President of the Guyana Mens Hockey board Phillip Fernandes said that Xavier is an exceptional player whose talents have been recognized by the Pan Am Hockey Federation.
Xavier said she was happy to be selected and committed herself to working hard to justify her selection.
The young lady has won for herself a scholarship to Miami University in the US
More turbulence in local football as clubs in the UDFA has shunned the Guyana Football Federation’s invitation for a meeting to explain to them their recent bans to handed down to the executive of the UDFA. President of the GFF Christopher Mathias said the clubs need to have all the details first hand.
The Mathias led administration of local football banned the executive of the UDFA for their failure to adhere to a decision of the Congress of the GFF.
President of the UFDA Sharma Soloman says his association will continue their work with out the GFF’s input in the interest of the Communities involved.
