Former beauty queen Carol Ann Lynch-Turns herself in
The former beauty queen surrendered to Police at the Brickdam Station in Georgetown, while professing her innocence. Her husband was the boss at the Swiss House cambio when he was killed in May 2007 at their Georgetown Home.
Lynch was charged with her husband’s murder, and spent one year in priuson until a Magistrate found that there was insufficient evidence to put her on trial.
In a statement to the press, Lynch said she did not kill her husband, but has decided to turn herself in to clear her name.
She said when she was released, no one from the Guyana Police Force or the Chambers of the Director of Public Prosecutions offered her an apology for the year of her life that was taken away on what she called “a framed up charge.”
She said there was absolutely nothing that could have been done to erase the damage that was caused to her character, reputation and good name.
She said she tried desperately to move on with life for the sake of her daughter and family.
With her surrender, Lynch said her life is again going to be placed on hold because of who she said were “certain vindictive and malicious people” who are again attempting to institute another charge of murder against her.
The former beauty queen said she is determined to clear her name and to ensure that her daughter grows up knowing that her mother innocent.
She said her biggest fear is that the people she called vindictive and malicious are out to get her will stop at nothing and may even be willing fabricate things now, some seven (7) years later to see her go to jail for a crime she said she did not commit.
Lynch has pleaded for a speedy hearing and said she was confident of being discharged because she is innocent. Mr Lynch said she loved her husband and their family dearly.
