Harding’s mom on her son’s assault

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERASharon Harding the mother of the 23 year old man who was allegedly beaten and sexually assaulted with a baton by a police officer back in November during a  search for stolen articles in Timehri.

The woman who is a former member of the Guyana Police force says she is disappointed about the way the matter slowly made its way down the command chain of the force and appeared to be heading nowhere.

When this newscast visited the hospital today the 23 year old man signed a document for self bail that will allow for the police hand cuffs that are shacked to his right leg be removed.

His emotional mother said the ordeal has taken the entire family by surprise. She said at this time they are praying for Harding’s condition to improve.

Harding’s mother told Capitol News that she was informed by a doctor that once the hand cuffs are removed from her son he is likely to be discharged.

The now hospitalized man, Colwyn Harding claims he was beaten during the police visit and sodomized with a baton by an officer identified as Constable Devin Singh. This was despite the fact that no evidence was found linking Harding to the claim of stolen goods.
