Town Clerk Carol Sooba faces more scrutiny
Today deputy mayor Patricia Chase Green made the shocking revelation of Sooba taking 500,000 dollars from the council’s funds for legal fees, which was paid to attorney at law Roysdale Forde. Public relations officer Royston King took the minister of local government to court over the appointment of Sooba as town clerk.
Green is making it clear that the action filed by King was not filed against the council and Sooba did not follow the standard procedure established by the council with using the council’s money.
Chase – Green said she has since called in the auditor general office to investigate this latest allegation.
And councilor Ranwell Jordan said Sooba’s action was unacceptable to the council.
The mayor and councilors are saying that Sooba was imposed by the government on the council since she was the least qualified out of a group of four that were bidding for the job of town clerk.
