Policeman killed in an altercation with an escaped prisoner

police dead 7thDetective Corporal Seburn Ellias was  shot while rendering assistance to one of his colleagues who was chasing an escaped prisoner . The prisoner had earlier  disarmed the  policeman.

The incident occurred in a yard in Fourth Street Alberttown. It started at the Georgetown public hospital where the suspect was under police guard waiting to receive medical attention. The police are reporting that he was handed over to the police after it is alleged that he broke into a home at Turkeyen.

Patients at the hospital told members of the media that the suspect asked the policeman to go to the washroom and after he was taking an unusually long time the policeman went to the door to see what was happening.

As word got around about the policeman’s death commissioner of police Leroy Brumell, senior officers and junior ranks all rushed to the hospital in shock and disbelief. The commissioner was emotional as he spoke to the media. He has since ordered a thorough investigation.

The police are reporting that suspect was captured and the firearm recovered.
