Asst. Police Commander Derrick Josiah laid to rest

police dead 23rdTo some he was a hero, his colleagues described his contribution to the Guyana Police Force was significant and others see him as a good role model for the force.

Those were just some of the sentiments expressed at the funeral service of assistant commissioner of Police and A division commander Derrick Josiah.

Josiah was laid to rest following a moving service at the Uitvlugt community center ground on Saturday.

Delivering remarks at the service president Donald Ramotar said Josiah served the noble profession of the Guyana Police Force well.

Josiah’s death sent shockwaves throughout the Force after he collapsed and died while receiving treatment at the Woodlands hospital. Commissioner Brummel said he was a shining example of what police officers should be in the force.

 Opposition leader David Granger also gave brief remarks and he said the passing of Josiah was a big blow to the force.

Heads of the security services, members of the opposition, government officials all came out to pay their respects the fallen comrade.
