PNC/R remembers Nelson Mandela at a ceremony over the weekend
Nelson Mandela was laid to rest in his hometown in South Africa yesterday ten days after his passing but thousands of miles away here in Guyana at a ceremony at the square of the revolution he was remembered as a man who championed the cause of many. PNC/R Central executive member Volda Lawrence said he was especially concerned about women and girls.
Pastor Loris Heywood recalled that Mandela was known for his willingness to serve and recounted one occasion where Mandela’s selflessness was revealed. It had to do with his release from prison
Also speaking at the occasion was City Mayor Hamilton green who challenged the Guyana delegation in South Africa as well as others to follow Mandela’s legacy.
