The United Nations Global Facility fund approves funding for projects in Guyana
Projects that target conservation of the environment were approved by the United Nations Global Environment Facilty the GEF Small grants programme. At a ceremony at the Cara Lodge on Wednesday the awards were made for projects in 2-6 and region 9. National Co-ordinator of the Small grants project Ian Kissoon said that since thje launch of the Facility in Guyana in April this year there have been significant strides made.
The programmes are expected to benefit the communities identified and community representatives made presentations on how their projects will be implemented and the benefits to be derived. Kissoon said he expects many more non- governmental organisations to take full advantage of the facility which gives up to 5o thousand us dollars for each project approved.
So far three hundred and thirteen thousand US dollars have been disbursed for projects approved for 2013.
