AFC expects to grill finance minister on funds allocated for public servants

AFC 11thThe finance minister Dr Ashni Singh will not be let off the hook as the Alliance for Change seeks answers from him regarding the revised wages and salaries category for the past five years which they claim has not been properly accounted for.

AFC leader Khemraj Ramjattan today speaking at the party’s weekly press conference said the response given by the minister to the issue leaves many unanswered questions.

This year 4.4 billion was budgeted, approved and passed in the national assembly for salary increases for public servants but the government resorted to an imposed 5% saying that the other part of that money was used for recruitment and promotions.

Public servants are protesting against this latest imposition and they are demanding a 25%increase in pay.

The AFC is hoping to raise the issue in parliament at the next sitting on Thursday.
