The GFA Banks Beer tournament switches to the Tucville ground.

Northen rangers will take on black pearl in the first game.  Flamingo will then play Netrockers. The tournament continued last Saturday and the upsets also continued with Fruta conquerors suffering a shocker to Monderlust in a penalty shootout after the teams were tied 1 all in regulation.

Monderlust Coach and Goalkeeper said they always backed themselves and are looking forward to the next game.

The other game saw west Demerara club Slingerz beating Cougars 3-1. Cougars coach Phillip Carrington made a call for more playing opportunities for his club. He believes this contributed to their loss against the slingerz side.

Slingerz coach for mer national Captain Lily Pollard was happy to get through this game after not playing any competitive games for several weeks.

It’s the  Round of 16 Knock stage for the Guinness greatest of the streets and the teams goin through to that round are

The Guyana Lawn Tennis Association recently honored its junior players who were outstanding this year. At the awards ceremony Vice President Grace McAlmon said the association will be focusing on adopting new strategies for success

Adressing the gathering too was President of the Guyana Olympic Association KA Juman Yassin who called for the association to try and work through the challenges they face.

The GOA boss also called on Government to give land to sporting organisations to develop their sport.

Juman Yassin also presented a cheque for 200 thousand dollars to President of the GLTA Ramesh Seebaran to aid their development. Picking up the Junior champion award  was Gavin Lewis and for the girls Nicola Ramdyhan. For the Seniors Carol Humphrey and Anthony Downes were the champions.


And Wendel Meusa ensured that a new  Senior chess champion was named when he defeated the reigining champion Taffin Khan.. Meusa came out half a point better than Khan and a point better than Anthony Drayton who came in third. The Champion pid tribute to the current crop of platers and also to the organisers of the tournament for doing a good Job.

And West Indies buckle down to business in the 2 nd test against new Zealand starting this afternoon Caribbean time.

The West Indies have added bowler Sunil Narine to the squad and will be lookind to its bowlers to  put up a better performance in this match . The first test was drawn.
