Two killed after shoot out with police over the weekend

shoot out 9thThe police say that the men were attempting to rob this home of a Grove east Bank Demerara businessman Ravi Dookram when they were killed. The incident occurred just after ten on Saturday night.

Residents in the area told this newscast that there was an exchange of gunfire, which lasted for 20 minutes. They said from all indications the men were in the yard when they were killed.

The two suspected bandits have been identified as Paul Bascom, called ‘Shine Buck’ of Diamond Housing Scheme, East Bank Demerara and Alberto Grant, or Alberto Mustapha, 28, called Mukie, of Lot 299 Meadow Brook Gardens.

The businessman operates a trucking service in the interior and it is believed that the bandits traced him. The incident reportedly occurred while he was returning home from one of his trips.

According to the police public relations department, ranks recovered a .38 snub nosed revolver with two live rounds and two spent shells, along with one 9mm round and two 7.62 rounds.

Today Commissioner of Police Leroy Brumell and crime chief Seelall Persaud spoke to the media on the issue.
