Unhappy with govt. salary increase imposition, union chides private sector
Public Servants union the GPSU is taking a swipe at the private sector commission who they believe is not sympathetic to their cause. The union said they found it strange that the vocal private sector on other issues has lost its voice.
First vice president Mortimer Livan and Dennis English senior industrial officer both expressed some disappointment at the private sector.
English is encouraging public servants to spend wisely during this festive season as they continue to struggle for a living wage.
The union is asking where is the 4.4 billion that was approved and passed in the national assembly for salary increases since it was not given to public servants.
GPSU is demanding a 25% increase in wages and salaries for its members, but is willing to accept a15% increase at this morning and negotiate for further increases.
